Sideways Glances

Lately, I’ve been seeing things creeping by my vision
a snake that slivers out of sight, a fly, even an incision,
the computer’s power cord was a strange cat’s tail,
hallucinations litter me with doubts, I’ve maybe failed
to hold myself aloof from passers-by, I’ll have to try
a way to see things as they were, if only I’d apply
myself to separating fact from farce, to take an axe
and chop chop chop, beside me, there are tracks…
